Dr. Montoya acquired his medical degree from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana College of Medicine in Colombia. He completed his post-graduate training, internship, and junior residency in General Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He spent the next two years as a Clinical Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Montoya completed his final three years of General Surgery training at a Yale University-affiliated program, where he also served as a Chief Resident. He also served as a Chief Resident in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine, thus completing nine years of surgical training. He also has considerable experience in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery and endovascular procedures.
